I really wanted to figure out the difference between Basic and NTLM authentication (also known as Integrated Windows authentication) when enabling Outlook Anywhere. Here is what I've found searching around. Let me know if you think differently. In my lab I have a TMG 2010 to publish stuff on the inside to the Internet.
